FAQ:
Why use a flammable storage cabinet?Â
If you store certain flammable liquids or materials, a safety cabinet is a requirement to meet Australian Standards. These cabinets protect combustible materials for a period of time under dangerous conditions. In addition, these cabinets protect both employees and your facility from flammable accidents that may occur.Â
Where should I put my flammable cabinet?
To make sure that your flammable liquids cabinet is placed in a compliant and safe manner, keep the following in mind.Â
- Â Â Position your cabinet in a safe, secure location.
- Â Â Find a spot with solid and level ground.
- Â Â Consider incompatible liquids and keep them apart.
- Â Â Remember to store up to 850L per 250m2 of floor space.
- Â Â Ensure the cabinet is well-lit.
- Â Â Ensure the cabinet has the right signage.
- Â Â Choose an area away from ignition sources.
Can my flammable liquids and combustibles be stored together?
The answer to this is no. This is due to the fact that flammable liquids are volatile substances such as petrol, paints, acetones and diesel and they can easily be ignited. So you have to treat them with great care. So putting further combustibles close to them is to make things riskier. Storing combustibles should be done by placing them in their own cabinets, separately.Â
